Lindsay I’m so incredibly far behind in blogging. I have so many sessions to catch up on but things are still crazy busy – love fall sessions! That said, I have 1 more weeknight session open in October and then 3 weeknight sessions open in November so let me know asap if you’re interested.
Now, on to our post for today!
I met Nick on Facebook when he was commenting on an ad for our neighborhood. He had questions about the ‘hood and I had answers for him. Fast forward a year and we bump into them on an evening stroll and come to find they’re now neighbors and they’re expecting!
I’m always hesitant to mention my photography services because I don’t want to be overly salesy, especially to my neighbors. However, they are the most adorable couple so I took a risk and casually dropped that I knew of an awesome photographer if they were thinking of maternity pics.
Happy thing for me – they were! Even happier for me when they liked my work and decided on both maternity and newborn photos!!
We went back and forth on options for our shoot. They wanted open fields and great light. I have a few of my favorite spots but when they mentioned Greenhill Winery I jumped! Such a beautiful spot (most of the wineries around Northern Va are actually pretty amazing).
The day of the session I arrived a little bit early to get the lay of the land since I’d never been there before. I drove back to the manor house to find a lake, rocks, and beautiful open fields!
On the far side was a horse paddock with a beautiful fence. As I approached, the horses in the field came over to say hello! I’m glad I did because he later decided to photobomb us!
We were dodging rain showers somewhat – a few sprinkles here and there but ultimately, the rain held off until we got in our cars to drive home.
Even though the rain threatened to run us out of there, it did allow for some amazing skys for our photos!!
In the end, Nick and Michele were good sports as we walked all over the winery and I’m so glad! It was a beautiful place and I can’t wait to go back again!
