It’s been so incredibly hot that I’m longing for those beautiful Spring afternoons where the temperature is just perfect. It made me think back to this awesome Spring Mini session that I did for a local family.
The Y family won a mini from a giveaway and I was super excited to meet up with them and their adorable little girl.
We ventured up the Central Park at One Loudoun for some playing in the park and maybe a few pictures. I love this location because there’s room for the little ones to run and expend some energy while we fit in a few photos here and there.
With littles it’s important to roll with the punches. Toddlers, pre-schoolers, and even early elementary aged kids have a mind of their own and there’s usually no making them do anything they don’t want to. So, we go at it by trying to have fun and play games. Or giving the little some time to run, reign them in for a few photos and then let them run again.
This bouncing back and forth means the kiddos never see this as work – they see it as fun and we can get some really great shots.
For example, the big black tube. Sure, not exactly one of those sun kissed in a field portraits that I love but for this session it worked. We got her running back and forth in the tube (holding that silly daffodil which is featured in 90% of their gallery) and then finally got her to sit on the edge of the tube for a quick few.
I think these last two are my favorites of the entire set. She just kind of decided to plop down in the middle of the grass and hang out. Who am I to argue with an 18 month old so we went with it. I love that she’s still clinging to that daffodil (which we offered in trade for a rock she was previously holding haha..)
