Feature Friday: Summer Sun Family Session | Hamilton Family Photographer

Summer is the perfect time for family photos! I know everyone gravitates to fall for the pretty colors but there’s something about summer evenings that have my heart.

I photographed this family first when that little dude was barely walking. When his momma reached out again and said we had little sister I was so excited!

At this point we had been a full year into covid isolation and were craving human contact. Outside, for family portraits were the perfect opportunity.

We met back up at the farm where her horse is boarded. The family that lives there were so kind and generous letting us traipse about the property looking for the perfect spots and of course we had to get the horse in the pic.

Being a kids portrait photographer means you need to go with the flow for most sessions. Little ones have their own agenda and own opinions of how things should go. It’s their world, we’re just living in it. So, I take a very laid back approach to the session.

I will try to get you all in some semblance of a pose but really I love the ones where there’s movement and connection. So, when the toddler decides he wants to walk or to show you his best headstand, you kind of just roll with it. Because when he blows those kisses to the camera and then laughs his little butt off, it’s the best pose you could ask for:)

Summer portraits are some of my favorite and a fabulous time to take family pics. Avoid the fall rush and plan for August:) Reach out today to book.
