Lindsay While all babies are a special gift, first babies have that remarkable distinction of making you a momma. That expectant hope as you navigate those 9 looooong months waiting to bring your babe earth side. Makes me all nostalgic. 10 years ago this week I was just about where Laura is in these photos. I can still remember the excitement (and terror) of knowing our lives were going to change so drastically.
My maternity photos are some of my most cherished photos and I love that my photographer printed them into an album for me because that album sits on my shelf and gets looked over often. My only regret is that I didn’t do them for Lia as well. I remember feeling fat and so exhausted and just basically over it by the time I got to the end with her. Life was chaotic with a 2 year old, a full time job, and a house that was still being renovated. I didn’t even think to do photos in the moment. But I’m here to tell you mommas – take the photos! Call your photographer early and get on their schedule (and your schedule) because as you get to the end, things move so quickly and those small details often get missed. Sure, photos aren’t a need like a car seat and a stroller, they’re definitely a “want”. But, years later you’ll be so happy that you did them. I have yet to meet a momma who’s regretted doing maternity photos:)
